About Rukia:

I am a practitioner in weaving, a mum and a teacher. Growing up in East London had a unique and exciting experience, known for its vibrant culture and diverse community. I was submersed in the world of creativity that allowed me to express that identity. It's been a natural process to be influenced by the society and culture I am a part of and the experiences that have shaped me. By exploring my own heritage and cultural traditions, I have created designs that celebrate and honour my identity and the identities of those around me. I plan to continue to draw inspiration from the world around me and create designs that reflect my unique perspective and experiences.

During the pandemic, I spent more time at home with my child, looking for new ways to stay busy and productive. That's when I discovered weaving and began to explore this unique craft. Weaving quickly became a passion for me, and I found that it allowed me to express my creativity and provided a sense of calm and relaxation during a stressful time. As a mother, weaving was a great way to spend time with my child and teach them a new skill. Weaving has become a particular activity we can enjoy together, and it has helped me be at home with my child in a meaningful and fulfilling way.

Don’t miss this opportunity to weave your own masterpiece!
Join us for a memorable weaving experience.
