About us

Hive are curators, artists and cultural programmers specialising in arts and placemaking. We operate across two sites, providing creative workspaces for artists.

Hive was founded in 2019 after transforming 3,000 sq ft of disused industrial space on Pretoria Road North into a community of multiracial, multigenerational, and multidisciplinary artists.

At Hive Curates we want to bridge the gap between culture and community. We believe in the importance of creativity and how it can help transform our everyday environments. Since starting we have grown our mission to work beyond the studio, working on some great public realm projects with the GLA, Enfield Council, Fore Street For All and we’ve been funded by HM Government, European Regional Development Fund and Mayor of London.

Hive Curates have been commissioned to organise three lights festivals, including Enfield Winter Lights, a borough wide festival which ran throughout February and March 2022. The festival, in collaboration with Enfield Council, was designed to bring people back to our high streets post-pandemic, through a series of unexpected and playful light installations across four town centres (Angel Edmonton, Enfield Town, Palmers Green and Southgate). In early 2023 we recently delivered Light the Way alongside Peabody in Thamesmead, attracting over 4,000 residents. The light festival brought the community together through co-designed artworks and installations focused on biodiversity and spotlighting local environments. We are now working with Camden Council to deliver a light festival in 2024.

Hive Curates in partnership with Creative Land Trust has been delivering a cultural programme along Stratford High Street with Newham Council. The intergenerational programme aims to reach new audiences that wouldn’t have otherwise engaged in the arts, it offers the chance to reflect on the cultural diversity of the communities in Newham and activate spaces surrounding the building through participatory co-designed and family friendly workshops and public realm activations (like film screenings, performances, meanwhile activations, public artworks and participatory workshops).

Hive continues to work on public realm projects and looks to add a third site to its portfolio in 2022. For available studios please click here and to view a list of recent projects click here.
