Have your say! Choose a mural for Gaywood Road by local artist Adriana Jaros

Mural

Background

Alongside Pocket Living, Hive Curates has commissioned Adriana Jaros to design two murals for the elevation of the new homes at 458 Forest Road.

Following a workshop in Lloyd Park earlier this year, Adriana and local residents foraged for colour pigments to develop a palette that takes reference from its natural surroundings.

It is now time for the local community to vote on their preferred mural for Gaywood Road.

About the artist

Venezuelan interdisciplinary artist, Adriana Jaros, uses colour and visual language as a means to connect with the world and elevate our senses.

About the Artwork:

Responding to the site’s unique geometry and how the building varies on each side of the intersecting roads. The artworks are inspired by the rhythm and sculptural quality of the building.

Taking inspiration from nearby William Morris gallery and his influence in defining British design, Adriana has developed artworks that respond to the way in which Morris constructed patterns. Adriana has designed abstract artworks that make use of repeated motifs, celebrating the architectural design and identity that characterises Walthamstow.

Foraging for colour pigments with local residents Adriana has developed colour palettes for the murals that take reference to the physical and local surroundings in Waltham Forest. The earthy colour palette hopes to reference to the brick detailing and connect the building to the intrinsic properties of the natural environments, as a reflection of the joy, depth, character and diversity of the area.
