Light Festival
Light Up Kilburn took over the urban realm, bringing colour and creativity to the High Road.
Hive Curates produced Light Up Kilburn, a new light festival that activated shop fronts, cultural spaces and parks along Kilburn High Road from 9th to 24th February 2024.
Local retailers joined in our light festival with creative activations in their windows every evening. There were also fun activities and events in the area for all the family. On Saturday 24th there was a colourful closing parade, along the High Road, ending in Kilburn Grange Park with entertainment and festivities. Installations became activated through performances, lantern and puppet parades, and music.
The festival featured awe-inspiring illuminations forming a trail and a magical spectacular parade, bringing light, colour, sound and creativity to Kilburn the festival saw over 2500 people gather in one evening.
We commissioned x13 artists and 50+ wider creatives and musicians were involved in the festival. We delivered 12 workshops for the local community working with x6 local schools and involving over 250 participants.
Partners included One Kilburn, Camden Council Brent Council, Kiln Theatre, State of Mind Kilburn, and local businesses; Beit Alwared, Ruach City Church, Traid, Black Lion.
